Quebec City is 180 miles north-east of Montreal, and 800 miles south-west of the gulf of St. Lawrence. In this paper I’m going to talk about the history, activities, and economics of Quebec City. Quebec City was founded by Samuel de Champlain. It got its name from an Indian word that means “to go back to”. In 1535 a fort was built by Jacques Cartier. In July 3, 1608 it was an old Iroquois Indian settlement called Stadawna. The river made Quebec City a good spot for trading. This is what attracted settlers. There was war when the British attacked but the British did not win. The climate and animals of Quebec City are similar to ours in the Northeast. It has humid summers and snowy and cold winters. A common animal in Quebec City is the beaver.Wood is plentiful and beavers cause flooding building dams. There are many activities in Quebec City. The grace and effortless style in Quebec City brings visitors. One activity in Quebec City is skiing. Another activity in Quebec City is hiking. Quebec City is the oldest city in Canada. A land mark in Quebec City is the Parliament building. Economics in Quebec City are strong. Some industries in Quebec City are warehouses and hotels. Quebec City makes over $6,000,000 by tourists visiting. Chateau Frontenac is a famous hotel in the British Empire. Quebec City has many industries. Some of these industries are brickworks, boot and shoe factories, and clothing. I hope you enjoyed my report about Quebec City. I found many interesting facts in history, activities, and economics.
